Eleanor Klein, 98, passed away on April 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wynantskill, daughter of the late William Kearns and Elizabeth (Hennessey) Kearns and wife of the late Robert J. Klein.
Eleanor resided in Troy most of her life. Educated at Sacred Heart School & Catholic Central High School (class of 1944). Eleanor worked at Montgomery Wards in Menands, NY. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy, a former member of the Women’s club, the Legion of Mary, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Eleanor was also an enthusiastic member of the Eastside senior citizens where she enjoyed trips, cards and a good game of bocce.
Eleanor is survived her brother Donald Kearns, and her three daughters and son: Karen (Dan) Foley and Carole (Lou) Caputo, both of California, Marie Kanellis, of Florida, and William J. Klein, of Galway. She was grandmother to Kristyn (Josh) Hurley, Amanda (Dan) Talham, Dean Kanellis, David Kanellis, Kolby Kanellis (Michelle Skomsky), Derek (Maria) Klein and Matthew Klein. Her great grandchildren include Luke Hurley, Eliza Hurley and Raegan Talham.
Eleanor was predeceased by her three brothers, William, Edward and Joseph Kearns and her grandson Patrick J. Foley.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Eleanor on Thursday May 2nd at 10am in the Sacred Heart Church, Troy.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call in the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Avenue, Troy (corner of Parkview Court & Pawling Avenue) on Wednesday May 1st from 5pm to 7pm. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
