Dolores A. Chagnon

Dolores A. Chagnon (Welsh) of Rensselaer died in the Van Rensselaer Manor, Troy on August 14th, 2024. She was 96. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Francis Welsh. Beloved wife of the late Richard Chagnon with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

Dolores enjoyed a long career at Russell Sage College where she worked as a librarian. Dolores and Dick enjoyed being snowbirds for 25 years, wintering in Florida. Dolores and Dick were communicants of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill, and Dolores was a longtime member of the Troy Elks, American Legion Rensselaer Post #1489, a past member of the Van Schaick Country Club and the Frear Park Golf League.

Dolores is survived by her Grandson Robert (Kim) Irwin and two great grandchildren Beth and Erika Irwin. Also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents Dolores is predeceased by her son Mark Chagnon.

Dolores's family wishes to thank the staff of the Van Rensselaer Manor for the wonderful care and support they offered Dolores in her final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dolores Tuesday August 20th at 9 am in St. Jude the Apostle Church,43 Brookside Avuene, Wynantskill. A calling hour will precede the mass from 8-9 am in the church prior. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
