Charlotte Marie Christian, 80 of Troy, NY passed away on October 20, 2022. Charlotte was born on December 17, 1941 to Charlotte Benedict (House) Christian and Benjamin Christian in Troy NY where she remained a resident throughout her life.In her youth, Charlotte was employed at Classic Metals. After that, she spent many years helping to care for her nieces, nephews and great-nieces/nephews; some related, some not. Known as “Nana” to her “babies”, she was a first teacher to many. She can be credited by many for the ability to tie shoes, stack blocks, braid hair, make homemade Christmas cards, play a game of “Go Fish” and shuffle playing cards like a Vegas dealer!Charlotte enjoyed solving word search puzzles, watching her “soaps” and reading about her favorite one, General Hospital, in the Soap Opera Digest. She enjoyed going to Ted’s for a fish fry, having lunch at the Alexis Diner and sharing holidays and special events with her sister Lil and family. Charlotte also enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with her friend Pat at Manory’s Restaurant, chatting on the phone with her old friends such as, Pam, as well as her daily call and the “Joke of the Day” with her “BFF” and sister in law Colleen.Charlotte is predeceased by her sisters Helena (Christian) Weaver, Marion (Sam) Holmes and Marge (Robert) Hilldebrandt, her brothers James Christian and Benjamin “Buddy” Christian, her niece Robin Weaver and nephews Robert Christian and Robert Weaver.Charlotte is survived by her sister Lillian “Lil” Christian and brothers Robert “Butch” Christian, George (Colleen) Christian and John “Jack” Christian. Charlotte was a very special aunt to Joe (Kat) Yetto III, Jennifer (Greg) Fox Bobersky, Athena Christian, Ron (Amy) Weaver, Rebecca Christian, Amelia Christian, George Christian, Benjamin Christian, John Caplan, Tracy Christian and Jim Christian. Charlotte was a very special great aunt and “Nana” to Skylar, Peyton, Gregory, Joey, Christian, Cheyenne, Kieran, Natalie, Ian, Melissa and Kelly.Calling hours will be held on Friday October 28, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home 510 Pawling Ave. Troy NY 12180. Internment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Troy NY.
